Industrial machines across the region were commissioned to keep production moving, with little thought given to who else might reach them over the network.
Many of the compressors, packaging cells, and process skids running in plants today were installed when control networks were sealed off from everything else. Shared IP schemes, unchanged factory passwords, and open controller access were common practice, and they caused no harm while those networks stayed closed. That has changed. Plant digitization, remote vendor support, and links to enterprise systems now place these machines on networks they were never designed for, with no built-in way to tell legitimate traffic from a threat.
Asset owners in oil and gas, utilities, and manufacturing want machine data without adding risk to operations, and national OT security frameworks across the GCC are making machine-level protection a formal requirement. Machine builders serving these customers are increasingly asked to prove how their equipment is protected before a purchase order is signed.
The right response depends on whether a machine is already in operation or still being engineered. Running equipment calls for protection added at its network boundary, leaving its behavior unchanged. New equipment allows protection to be specified into every connected component from the outset. Below, both approaches are mapped to Moxa solutions supplied by Easy World Automation, Moxa’s authorized partner.
For existing machines
Need to Secure Machines Quickly?
Want to protect machines that are already running in the field? Apply security upgrades without touching existing PLC configurations or interrupting operations.
For new designs
Starting a Design From Scratch?
Developing a new machine? Choose secure-by-design devices so that security is part of your architecture from the very first step.
LEGACY MACHINE DEFENSE
Protect Legacy Machines Without Modifying PLC Code
PLC control sits at the heart of every machine, so a security upgrade should never interfere with it. Zero-configuration protection secures your legacy assets without disrupting the network or forcing you to reprogram your PLCs.
NAT-102 Series
Industrial Network Address Translation (NAT) devices with 2 ports
NAT-G102 Series
Industrial Network Address Translation (NAT) devices with 2 1GbE ports
NAT-108 Series
Industrial Network Address Translation (NAT) devices with 8 ports
Industrial NAT Devices
NAT-(G)102 / NAT-108 Series
The NAT Series applies 1:1 local IP mapping to resolve IP address conflicts, which makes plant-wide rollout smooth and predictable.

In practice, most facilities need both approaches at once. Legacy machines that cannot be modified operate next to new lines still in procurement, and protecting them works best as a single roadmap rather than two separate projects. Prioritizing the machines with the most external connections, or the greatest impact on output, delivers the largest risk reduction first. To speed up the conversation, gather a few details in advance: the number of machines in scope, how they currently connect to the plant network, the protocols in use, and any security requirements set by your organization, your customers, or a national regulator. Easy World Automation has supported industrial projects across the Middle East since 2002 as Moxa’s authorized partner, and our engineers can match the right devices to each machine and support you from design through commissioning.
